Private Alcohol Addiction Treatment, France

Long heralded as a moderate drinking nation, France is no longer immune to the phenomenon of alcohol addiction and binge drinking. A report released in 2013 showed that alcohol is responsible for around 49,000 deaths in France each year - around 134 each day - 3/4 of these deaths were in men. Alcohol addiction has a hugely negative impact on individuals, their families and on their workplace environment.

Alcohol addiction among executives and professionals is a growing problem in France. According to a 2001 IPSOS survey, 71% of interviewees consumed alcohol during business lunches/dinners, with 35% consuming more alcohol than usual. A 2008 report by IRDES found that in France, female executives and managers are more likely to report excessive consumption of alcohol, this may be related to their professional environment which includes a male-dominated working environment, socialising with colleagues and clients and work pressures. Among men who drink, executives, craftsmen and salesmen are more likely to drink excessively than employees.

The importance of rehab treatment

This video features insights from addictions professionals and a former rehab patient into the importance of professional treatment for employees with alcohol and drug problems.

Employers often ignore alcohol and drug abuse in the workplace until it is too late. Residential rehab treatment can transform an addicted employee from a liability to a productive and fulfilled worker.

Alcohol Treatment Clinics, France

Although awareness of 12 Step rehab treatment is growing (as attested in a recent alcohol addiction blog article) and more people are attending AA meetings, 12 Step rehab options in France are limited. Only one treatment center in France uses the Minnesota Model as its basic framework.

There are no English-speaking residential rehab clinics in France. If you are an English expat or English speaker it would be advisable to look abroad for rehab treatment

Rehab Options

Private alcohol residential rehab treatment can transform the life of someone with alcohol addiction, rebuild their family relationships and change them from an unproductive employee and a liability in the workplace into a positive and fulfilled employee.
