Residential rehab treatment through BUPA

Since the experience of addiction can often be extremely isolating, it is important that the individual’s family understand as much as possible about the situation in order to provide the best support they can.

If you have private healthcare insurance through BUPA which you pay privately or which your company pays for you.

You may be covered for all or part of your treatment at a residential alcohol or drug rehab clinic.

Some policies cover alcohol and drug rehab treatment and some don’t.

This depends on the insurance company and the insurance package that you have chosen.

Many top rehab clinics will be preferred provider to BUPA healthcare insurance.

Follow these steps for medical insurance admissions:

  1. First, find out if your medical insurance covers residential inpatient rehab treatments as not all providers will cover this in their policy. However, insurers we have worked with in the past who fund treatment at our Castle Craig resort include BUPA, CIGNA, Aetna, WPA, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Coventry Health Care, AXA PPPJSIS and more.
  2. Next, you will need to request a referral from your GP. If you opt to chose Castle Craig for your treatment, once you have received the referral from your GP you can then send us your insurance number and we’ll take care of the rest.
  3. The final stage we will take care of. It will involve us liaising with your insurance provider to organise a speedy admission for you. Once all the details have been confirmed we will then invite you in where our specialist consultant will provide you with a pre-admission assessment to highlight the best treatment plan moving forward.

Please note that in emergency circumstances, we can offer immediate admissions. Learn more about the admissions process here.

Other ways to pay for treatment:

  • Private funding: Often the fastest way to be admitted is through private paying individuals. To admit yourself as a private patient, you can call our admissions department on 0808 231 5213, who will be able to discuss with you different payment options. To be admitted, you can provide us with a letter from your GP describing your medical history to ensure the treatment provided is safe and suitable. However, we understand in extreme instances where confidentiality is wanting to be achieved, we can look into alternative resources we can use. Apply for admissions here.
  • NHS funding: In Executive Rehab’s Experience, we have seen how difficult it can sometimes be to get private funding for residential addiction treatment. However, we have seen in many instances with the right persistence and patience that NHS funding is possible, although not instant. See: NHS or private rehab?
  • Alternative payment plans: For people in serious need of private and immediate care, but are concerned about how they will be able to afford treatment can get in touch with to discuss if some payment plan or cross-border healthcare funding can be arranged.
