Can family members visit?

Although the patient may be far from family and friends, visiting loved ones in rehab is encouraged as it will help support the patient through their treatment, help to restore the relationship and establish healthy communication. Rehab clinics have different visitation procedures and many don’t allow family members to contact the patient during the first week so that they can settle in to the programme without any outside pressures.

Visiting

Rehab clinics usually have certain designated visiting times for families so that they can visit their loved ones in treatment. This is usually combined with family therapy sessions which are of great benefit to the families. Some alcohol and drug rehab clinics provide onsite accommodation for visiting family members.

Telephone

Telephones are available so patients can call their family.

Post

Letters can be delivered to patients and emails can be passed on. Packages can be delivered but may be checked.
